Bruce, it's an LML Star 2, which is a 150cc two-stroke machine. It's the first one in South Australia, apparently (since they started being reimported again - there are some from pre-2002).
As for what the next trip is, I'm not quite sure yet. I might do a quick run to Melbourne in a couple of months, work permitting. Rene, I have certainly thought about doing much of the same route again, but avoiding the dirt roads. The Great Ocean Road would certainly be a lot more fun.
I took him out today down to Yankalilla, Victor Harbour and back to Adelaide. Didn't skip a beat, ran very smoothly, happily running between 80 and 90 most of the time. Willunga Hill was an easy 100 (down it, obviously!) - no shake or drift, even with the strong cross winds. The engine is nicely run in now, and other than for a couple of teething issues, he behaves perfectly.
That's the one, SharonVespaGirl. He didn't tell you that he'd sold it to some guy who was going to ride around the country on a 50cc? I'm disappointed ;)
Bruce, same thing, other than for the badge :) Allegedly around 10% of all Vespa PXs were built by LML, so whilst it doesn't have the badge, pretty much all other parts are identical.
Either way, it would be a far more comfortable ride, even if physically it could be more tiring because of the gears and higher top speed.
Ahaaaaaaa!!!
ReplyDeleteSo THAT'S what 50cc of raw, brute power has been replaced with! :)
Details?
Well done, Cap'n.
Now.....around Australia? Clockwise? :)
Or the same trip as the 50(for comparison):P
ReplyDeleteVery nice looking machine - good choice of colour :)

That's brilliant, Cap'n. Last time I was in City Skoots, Paul said he'd sold one. Enjoy! :-)

ReplyDeleteVery nice, Captain.
ReplyDeleteI initially assumed Vespa.
A trip back to Melbourne on the LML would be somewhat more comfortable. :)
Cheers!
